Our Fit Testing Services

  • Face Fit Testing Service

    Quantitative fit testing is considered the gold standard for workers exposed to hazardous particles in the workplace.

    Our face fit testing service is conducted by competent fit test operators, using the PortaCount instrument, to quantitatively fit test all tight-fitting respirator face masks, including all N95, P1, P2 and P3 filtering face piece respirators, to ensure that the Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) being used in the workplace seals adequately to the user’s face.

    Using the OSHA Fast Fit Testing Protocol, we offer the flexibility of face fit testing at your workplace or at our Townsville office, at times suitable to you.

    Call or email to discuss testing options to suit your business and personnel requirements.

  • Service Inclusions

    Each fit test conducted includes provision of:

    a fit test card (workers can demonstrate that they have been fit tested for a specific make, model and size of respirator);

    a fit test report (compliant with ISO 16975-3:2017, which states the respirator tested and any specific notes);

    PortaCount calibration certificate;

    PortaCount daily checks (if required).

    Evidence of your fit test data is retained should you require reissue of fit test records. We also contact you when your fit test is due for renewal.

  • Preparedness for Fit Testing

    At the time of making a booking, you will need to specify the make and model of RPE being used which requires testing (i.e. is it a disposable 3M 9322A+, is it a Sundstrom SR100, is it ?).
    * If you are bringing your own respirator for fit testing, please ensure that it has been cleaned and sanitised. We need to know if you are bringing your own RPE to ensure that we have an adaptor to enable the fit test to be conducted.

    You should have been trained and understand how to select, use and maintain RPE.

    Be clean shaven (preferably within 12 - 24 hours prior) around the sealing surface of the respirator (AS/NZS 1715:2009).
    * NOTE that we will not test anyone with facial hair, stubble, goatees that interfere with the respirator seal. All workers must be clean shaven and we will refuse to test anyone with facial hair. (Razors and shaving cream are available onsite.)

    Not smoke 30 minutes prior to fit testing.

    Not consume food or drinks within 15 minutes prior to testing.

    Workers must be medically fit to wear a respirator.
